“The events help keep the flames of hope for the future alive,” said a resident of GreenFields of Geneva. The senior living community has embarked on holiday celebrations that, due to COVID-19, looked different but are still festive and fun!
The community’s annual Christmas celebration this year featured hallway entertainment, fabulous food and cocktails, and photos at the Christmas tree.
A delicious brunch, including prime rib, crab cakes, and shrimp cocktail, will be delivered to the residents’ apartments on Christmas day. Holiday programming on the in-house television channel will include carolers, musicians, guest speakers, and more. Residents will be able to view the programming all day from the comfort and safety of their apartments.
“Due to COVID-19, we have taken steps to keep our residents safe. Unfortunately, with that comes a reduction of in-person social events. Since GreenFields is such a vibrant and active community, we felt that it was of the utmost importance to give our residents the best, over-the-top holiday celebrations possible while staying within the safety parameters set by the CDC and IDPH,” said Karen Tomko, life enrichment manager. “This has taken a lot of creativity, but the positive feedback has made it all worth it. Fun is truly being had by all!”
